Andie Chen, Jernelle Oh, and the drama series Oppa Saranghae! and Last Madame: Sisters of the Night won national prizes at the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA) 2023.

They are among the Singapore winners announced in a virtual event on Thursday (Sept 28). Chen was named Best Actor for the train hijack thriller Third Rail , which also picked up Best Sound and Best Visual or Special FX.

Best Actress goes out to Oh for her performance as a handicapped food delivery person in Cash on Delivery.

Elsewhere, Oppa, Saranghae!, starring Rui En and Tasha Low, scored Best Drama Series and Best Comedy Programme. The fantasy romance, about a K-drama character who crosses over to the real world, also scored Best Theme Song.

The sex and espionage drama Last Madame: Sisters of the Night received three honours, Best Original Production by a Streamer/OTT, Best Supporting Actress (for Min Ji-Oh) and Best Direction.

Other Singapore winners include Silent Walls (Best Single Drama/Telemovie/Anthology Episode, Best Promo & Trailer), Shrey Bhargava (Best Supporting Actor for Titoudao: Dawn of a New Stage), Yuvaraj Krishnasamy (Best Actor/Actress in a Comedy Role for Kaki Bola), Fiza O (Best Entertainment Host for Skoop! Bersama), and Mr Brown aka Lee Kin Mun (Best Voice Artist for Downstairs).

All in all, Mediacorp claimed 28 wins in 35 categories; there was no Singapore submission for the Best Feature Film category.

The AAA is an annual competition held in Singapore that honours works of creative excellence in the Asia Pacific region, including Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, South Korea, Thailand and the Philippines, among others.

Submissions to the awards are first judged locally in 17 countries across Asia, with only one entry in each category going through to represent their country at the Grand Awards and Gala Final which will take place at CHIJMES Hall on Dec 7, held in conjunction with the Asia TV Forum & Market (Dec 6-8).
