We’re always on the hunt for nifty kitchen appliances, cookware and gadgets that will save time and make cooking much easier at home. From busy mums cooking for the entire family to kitchen klutzes, who doesn’t love a shortcut in the kitchen that would save time, money or effort?

And that’s why BloomrSG creator Celine Leong (@moochihehe), who “doesn’t like cooking”, tried out three kitchen gadgets that “are supposed to turn me into a decent cook” on a recent episode of YouTube series GRWM.

Her task: To make a vegetable pancake. It’s a simple snack that “looks like one of those Korean street snacks” and is suitable for parents with picky kids who don’t like veggies, Celine reckoned.

First up, she used a multi-functional vegetable chopper (which can be used in a whopping 12 different ways, by the way) to slice and dice carrots and potatoes. “Normally when I shred carrots, I use a cheese grater and it requires a lot of strength and arm work. but this one is [doing it] so fast,” she said.

What she used: A 12-in-1 vegetable chopper that can also grate, slice, shred (and more) is the ultimate time-saver. KEOUKE 12-in-1 Vegetable & Fruit Chopper/Cutter, $24.49. Buy here Before adding in the waffle mix to the waffle maker, the latter needs to be sufficiently greased so you don’t end up with a sticky mess to clean up after. For this, Ceilne found a handy olive oil sprayer, which coated the waffle maker with a thin and even layer of oil. “You can see it sprayed quite a huge trajectory as well, so I’m quite impressed,” she mused.

What she used: You don’t need to buy a separate bottle of olive oil spray – just decant some from your existing bottle of olive oil into this olive oil sprayer. Olive oil sprayer 200ml, $10.18. Buy here

To save even more time, use a double waffle maker to make two at one go.

What she used: Powerpac waffle maker with non-stick coating plate, $20. Buy here

More multi-functional waffle makers to consider:

Morries 3-in-1 snack maker, $44. Buy here

Kenwood Sandwich Maker with Waffle Plate and Grill Plate, $90.08. Buy here (same-day delivery available)

Celine’s final verdict after a taste test? “I would actually make and eat this, coming from someone who doesn’t like to cook.”

Now that you’ve got your gear and recipe in hand (the one that Celine used is here), you’re ready to whip up your own snack easily.
